| Pennsylvania Stands Out at BIO 2004 |

A strong presence of companies, research institutions and support organizations, as well as a new report from Pennsylvania Bio, heighten Pennsylvania’s standing as a world leader.
BIO 2004 in San Francisco drew more than 16,000 attendees that included representatives from 61 countries and 41 U.S. states. In the exhibit hall, 28 state pavilions and 31 international pavilions were among the nearly 1,500 displays. And through all of this, Pennsylvania garnered great attention with its message that the Commonwealth is a world leader in the biosciences.

Normally, I would use this column to talk about The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, our exciting news, and programmatic priorities. This one time, I am turning over the column to Lynn Banaszak, PLSG Director of Marketing. Lynn was part of the management team working with the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative (PTEI) that developed the hugely successful ETG International Conference and Exposition. This same team recently managed the ETG Executive Forum and Regenerate 2004 in Seattle, Washington. This gathering was the first that PTEI has organized outside of Pittsburgh. I wanted to give Lynn the opportunity to share this success story.
